Media Advisory - Oldest mutual fund company in U.S. celebrates its anniversary by opening trading at the Toronto Stock Exchange

    TORONTO, March 18 /CNW/ - MFS Investment Management, a member of the Sun
Life Financial group of companies, and the oldest mutual fund company in the
United States, has turned 85 years old. MFS has had many accomplishments in
its long history. The company began in 1924 as Massachusetts Investors Trust,
the country's first open-end mutual fund, and in 1932 it established one of
the first in-house research groups in the industry.
    John Reilly, MFS Senior Vice-President, Marketing/Communications, joined
by Sun Life executives, will be on hand to open the market on Monday, March 23
to commemorate MFS's 85th anniversary.
    A part of Sun Life since 1982, MFS is a global asset management company
that currently oversees more than 5 million investor accounts and has six
