William D. Anderson is elected to the Sun Life Financial Board of Directors

TORONTO, May 19 /CNW/ - Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX/NYSE: SLF) is pleased to announce that William D. Anderson was elected to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting of Common Shareholders held this morning.

Mr. Anderson is an experienced Corporate Director with a background in corporate finance, telecommunications, and public accounting. He is Chairman of MDS Inc. and also serves on the boards of Gildan Activewear Inc. and TransAlta Corporation. Mr. Anderson was President of BCE Ventures, the strategic investment unit of the global telecommunications company BCE Inc., until he retired in December 2005. He held senior positions including Chief Financial Officer of BCE Inc. and Bell Canada. Mr. Anderson is a chartered accountant and spent 17 years of his career with the public accounting firm KPMG, where he was a partner for 11 years.
