Sun Life Financial makes $50,000 donation to support the community of Lac-Mégantic

MONTREAL, July 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Sun Life Financial is donating $50,000 to the Red Cross to assist and support residents of Lac-Mégantic after the tragic events in their town this past weekend.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mayor Colette Roy-Provencher, the firemen, families, citizens and business community of Lac-Mégantic at this terrible time. Our employees and advisors throughout Quebec stand with me in offering our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragedy," said Isabelle Hudon, president, Sun Life Financial, Quebec.

"We hope our donation to the Red Cross will help supply certain essential needs to evacuated families, such as information, food, shelter, clothing and other basic necessities. We also want to pay tribute to all the volunteers who have been working tirelessly since Saturday morning to support the Lac-Mégantic community."
